Important Policy Reminders

Hello Families,

We wanted to take this opportunity to remind you about important policies at Skills on the Hill:

We have important attendance and cancellation policies that families agree to when services are initiated.  Consistent attendance allows for consistent progress in therapy.

  • A cancellation made less than 24 hours before a session or a missed appointment without advance notice will be charged $80.00 (this is not reimbursable by insurance). If a session is cancelled late or missed, then a make-up session must be scheduled.  When an appointment is rescheduled within the same week/the following week, the cancellation fee will be waived.
  • If a child misses more than 25% of scheduled appointments for two months in a row, the child will lose his/her permanent weekly appointment time and be given the choice to be on our flex scheduling program which offers more flexibility.
  • If your child is sick, please do not bring him or her to therapy.  A sick child will not perform optimally and we do not want to put the health of our other clients or therapists at risk. You must notify your child’s therapist as soon as the symptoms are recognized, either first thing in the morning or right after coming home (there is no charge for a cancellation related to illness). Please call or send an email right away and do not wait until later in the day if your child has already been home from school. Your child must be fever free for 24 hours to attend therapy.  If your child has lice or pink eye, they are not permitted to our clinic until it has been treated.
  • If your child has the day off from school, such as a Monday holiday or there is a school vacation, your child’s treatment session will occur as scheduled. Skills on the Hill is open on Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day, Veterans Day, Emancipation Day, and during spring and winter school breaks.  Skills on the Hill is closed on Labor Day, Independence Day, Memorial Day, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, Thanksgiving/the Friday after, and New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day. We will do our best to reschedule sessions that are impacted by holidays to ensure consistency of therapy.

If you have any billing or insurance-related questions, please call our billing office directly at 202-424-2718 or email skills@hspmd.com. They will gladly assist you in processing your accounts.
